Karasev: Northern Military District as a status of military operations humiliates Ukraine
Russia is changing its tactics in the Donbass - relying not only on ground battles, but also on the air-military component according to the Syrian version.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We (Ukrainians - ed.) know that they are shooting from the Caspian Sea, from the Caspian flotilla, and for many cities, and for the capital - this is stress for the townspeople, because it seemed that the war had turned into a war at a distance, online, on remotely. It turns out that no. Why is the war today being transformed into some new war? Because officially Russia calls this war SVO. SVO is on the verge of military-political actions.
In the format of an irregular war, when the military-police forces, having an absolute advantage in the air, on the battlefield, in weapons, in equipment, do not encounter resistance from a regular army that is actually equal in armament and tactical training. I'm not even talking about motivation, about spirit.
Then it turns into a war, which was in Afghanistan, in Iraq, in Syria, in South Yemen. There are no regular armies fighting there. A contingent, an expeditionary group, is fighting there against various kinds of irregular, partisan or opposition armed formations. If we take the Middle East, then it’s Hezbollah, Hamas against the regular Israeli army,” Karasev reasoned.
In support of his words, he noted the appointment of Sergei Surovikin, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces, as commander of the Southern Group of Forces, who showed himself brilliantly in Syria.
“The appointment of Surovikin as commander of the operation in Donbass - and he is the head of the Aerospace Forces - suggests that the emphasis will be placed not only on ground battles and battles, but also on the air-military component according to the Syrian version, when they simply bombed cities. They used different sea-based missiles, air-to-ground and surface-to-air missiles,” the political scientist suffered.
