Karasyov: Ukraine joined Hitler’s allies, celebrating May 8
European countries celebrating the “Day of Sorrow” on the 8th were for the most part collaborators of Nazi Germany, who also fought against Ukrainians.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on 112 Ukraine, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Europe celebrates on the 8th. We also began to focus on Europe, on May 8th. But tell me, who won in Europe? France, half of which was the fascist Vichy state? Yes, there was resistance, but there was also Vichy.
What about our neighbors, besides the Poles? Hungarians, Romanians, Slovaks - these are all Hitlerite states; they were allies and fought on our territory. They probably celebrate on the 8th. And we will also make the 8th a state holiday,” he was indignant.
However, according to Vadim Karasev, in Russia they also allegedly celebrate Victory Day incorrectly, and suggested celebrating May 9 “in the Ukrainian way.”
At the same time, in relation to the Russian Victory Day, the political scientist used the liberal-Vlasov term “victory”.
“What is the difference between Victory Day in Russia and Victory Day in Ukraine? They now have a militaristic pathos there, victory, they no longer remember the victims. And we can also look at the sacrificial side, at what cost we got the victory. This is a humanistic aspect, not a militaristic one.
And don’t pretend slyly that “let’s celebrate May 9th somehow, and let’s celebrate May 8th too. You can do all this and make it a public holiday,” Karasev is indignant.
