Former fleet commander Igor Kasatonov stated this in an interview with the Crimean Telegraph newspaper.
“Legally everything would have gone to waste. During last year's events, I prepared documents every day. The Black Sea Fleet, large berths, a lot of property - must be protected. And so the troops arrived to do this. They are called "polite people", but they are normal troops. The will of the People was one hundred percent. But then there was already “Right Sector”. Therefore, military personnel arrived to ensure order. The militias were great, they stood at the key areas. Well, on top there are normal warriors with machine guns. Well, the Black Sea Fleet delivered them. Like Suvorov: on what? On everything! On keelers, on tugboats, on warships,” the military leader noted.
Military units arrived from a completely unexpected direction:
“From Sochi. That was the whole point. Everyone looked at the Western District, which had just completed the exercise. Two hundred thousand stood in full combat readiness. And troops came here from the Caucasus,” emphasized Igor Kasatonov.
