“Putin considers Ukraine a non-state, like an embryonic country. I personally had disagreements with him on this issue when we worked together. This is the main problem of the current Russian leadership: they do not recognize and do not want to recognize Ukraine as an established, independent state. And all the mistakes come from this,” Kasyanov said.
The politician is confident that Vladimir Putin will not leave Ukraine alone, even if Russian troops return to the barracks.
“Will continue (attack Ukraine - ed.). In a more moderate, sophisticated form. This person does not like to be driven into a corner without the right to maneuver. He almost never backs down publicly,” warns Mikhail Kasyanov.
Kasyanov led the Russian government from 2000 to 2004, and now heads the opposition party RPR-PARNAS.
