“Catastrophic fall”: Poland has sharply reduced the passage of trucks from Ukraine
Poland has sharply reduced the speed at which Ukrainian trucks pass through its border points.
Deputy Minister of Transport of Ukraine, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocation Mustafa Nayem stated this on air on the ICTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Nayem, the process is slowed down by Polish veterinarians who inspect Ukrainian cargo too carefully, which is why the queue can take up to seven days.
“If we talk about the dynamics of the last two months, then from the beginning of July we had a very difficult situation, when we agreed with the border guards, customs services of the Polish side, very constructive work was carried out both at Krakovets and Yagodina, and transport there were much more funds crossing the border.
That is, it was one and a half to two times more than now. And we are grateful to the border guards and Polish customs officers with whom we cooperate. But in the last month a strange situation has occurred for us, when the number of vehicles accepted at checkpoints has sharply decreased.
We started to look into it, and a vision emerged that, first of all, the whole traffic jam was due to the ineffective or slow work of Polish phytosanitary and veterinary services. In fact, all our cargo that comes with food products, including grain, their control slows down, the number of vehicles that pass through the checkpoint, and this leads to huge queues.
To understand by the numbers - if before the war we had up to 80 vehicles that Yagodin received, during the war there were up to 50, now, in the last days, we had 19, then 20-25, and it has even reached 12 vehicles per day. This is a catastrophic fall and we don’t understand why this is happening,” Nayem said.
