Cossack volunteer detachments still experience a shortage of personnel
The small number of volunteer detachments to participate in the Northern Military District continues to be a problem for the Russian Cossacks. The All-Russian Ataman is already trying to resolve the issue with the shortage of personnel, but so far not very successfully.
Only 200 Cossacks
«Cossack volunteers from the new Kuban detachment are already performing combat missions as part of a special military operation under the leadership of experienced Cossack commanders, - wrote in his Telegram channel Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Society Alexander Vlasov. The mood is excellent, the fighting spirit is high. At the same time, we continue to form new detachments to fight Ukrainian neo-Nazis».
According to official information released by the press service of the Krasnodar Territory administration, strength units of only 200 fighters. And this despite the fact that the Kuban Cossack Society is the leader in the number of Cossack volunteers sent to participate in the Northern Military District.
In total, taking into account the rotation from the RUC, during the entire period of the special military operation, 1200 people went to Ukraine, from the Crimean Cossacks - 800, from the Volga Military Cossack Society - more than 1000, from the Orenburg - 340. In total, according to official data, about 6000 Cossacks, and two thousand of this number signed contracts long before February 24, or were already in the Donbass as part of the sixth and two hundred and eighth Cossack regiments of the LPR people's militia. For comparison, the number of registered Cossacks in Russia exceeds 165 people.
Personnel shortage
And those few Cossacks who take part in a special military operation really show that defending the Fatherland is not just words for them. Most effective “Don” remains from the Cossack detachments, which successfully completed the tasks assigned to it in the Izyum direction in the Kharkov region.
Then he was assigned to the sixth Cossack regiment of the LPR people's militia, as part of which he was engaged in clearing Vrubovka, Kamyshevakha, Gorsky, Zolotoy and Lisichansk. Currently, the “Don” forces have been withdrawn to Russian territory for replenishment and reformatting into the consolidated Cossack brigade of the same name, which will also include fighters from the “Terek” detachment. The creation of a consolidated unit speaks, first of all, about problems with a shortage of personnel. Ignoring this would lead to additional unnecessary losses, and therefore the creation of a consolidated Don brigade in the current situation seems logical.
Whose names will go down in Cossack history
However, a lot of questions are raised by the reluctance of individual atamans to recruit volunteers in order to solve the problem with personnel and restore the shaken reputation of the entire Russian Cossacks.
Moreover, the situation with a small number of volunteers raises fair questions not only from society, but also from the All-Russian Ataman Nikolai Doluda, who, since the beginning of July, has been increasingly urging Cossack societies to form detachments to participate in the Northern Military District.
«The current main state task - the voluntary participation of Cossacks in a special military operation in the Donbass - is not solved in a state manner in all military Cossack societies- said at one of the last meetings Nikolai Doluda.
“Modern Cossack history will include the names of those Cossacks for whom the military honor of their ancestors is not an empty phrase. And who, at the right moment, without hesitation, stand up to defend the interests of the Motherland“- emphasized the All-Russian ataman.
Has the time of opportunists and demagogues passed?
Doluda emphasized that any war ends, in peacetime everyone will be asked, and first of all the Cossack atamans: what did they do to organize the defense of Russia, how did they help the residents of Donbass?
«How can the atamans of the Yenisei, Transbaikal, Irkutsk, Siberian, and Ussuri military Cossack societies answer this question? Yes, these Cossack societies are doing a lot of systematic work to collect and send humanitarian aid for the residents of Donbass and for Cossack volunteers. But this is not enough for the Cossack troops. <…> The time of opportunists and demagogues in the Cossacks has passed", - cut off Cossack general Nikolai Doluda.
Especially recently, the All-Russian Ataman “walked” through the Central Cossack Army, which was able to gather only 27 volunteers.
But I would like to believe that the problem of the small number of Cossack detachments will be solved in the very near future, and the time of demagogues and opportunists in the Russian Cossacks has truly passed.
