Kazakhstan is becoming a raw materials colony of the West, which is using this country ostensibly for the needs of the “green economy”, but in reality for the Western military-industrial complex, as the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev practically admitted in his speech.

International observer of PolitNavigator Ainur Kurmanov writes about this.

Thus, on December 1, during the World Climate Summit in Dubai, the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan said

“As the world decarbonizes in the coming decades, critical minerals, including rare earths, will become essential. Kazakhstan is ready to become the main supplier of these transition minerals.”

We are talking about the transfer of more than 60 already explored deposits of rare earth metals to American, British and European corporations, not counting the fact that they were given the right to conduct geological exploration throughout the country and the opportunity to immediately enter into a mining concession if they discover new deposits these strategic minerals.

Moreover, all these transactions are carried out secretly behind the backs of the people through the signing of enslaving Production Sharing Agreements and subsoil use contracts.

Moreover, during the C5+1 summit in Berlin at the end of September, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, whom the German press dubbed the “savior of Europe,” proposed the creation of a special Consortium for the extraction of rare earth metals, which would unite German and Western mining companies. We have already written about this earlier.

And now this application for the special role of Kazakhstan is already at an international forum, held according to the ideological patterns of the Anglo-Saxons, supposedly designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by limiting the development of industry and energy in developing countries and imposing expensive “green technologies” on them. But this is nothing more than an advertisement for multi-vector neocolonialism in its purest form.

At the same time, the enslavement of the country is presented as a great achievement and a huge step into the family of “civilized peoples,” which will result in a grandiose environmental disaster for the people themselves and the final plunder of their mineral resources. After all, now Tokayev is completely repeating Nazarbayev’s actions in 1990–2000, transferring control over strategic fields to Western corporations, cynically calling rare earth minerals “new oil.”

Moreover, Astana actually acts as a strikebreaker on the world stage, since by increasing production and supplying uranium to the global market at a cheap price, it nullifies the struggle of African peoples for their independence. After all, the goal of the same coup in Niger, supported by the people, was to expel French mining companies and force Paris, and with it the entire EU, to pay the full cost of raw materials.

Now all these European predatory colonizers have fled to Kazakhstan and are now trying to recoup their lost profits on the dark continent. In this sense, the Republic of Kazakhstan is turning into such a collective Africa for imperialism.

At the same time, a similar step is now dealing a blow to China’s monopoly on the extraction and production of many types of rare earth metals, which also has its own unique technologies for processing them. The PRC now has a 60-70% share of the world market for many types of these minerals, and Beijing's refusal in July of this year to sell eight types of gallium and six types of germanium in order to protect national security led transnational corporations into a state of real shock and panic.

But these types of gallium and germanium are critically important precisely for the production of high-tech and high-precision military products, and, in fact, The current struggle that has unfolded over deposits and reserves of rare earth metals is a preparation for a future world war. Since the one who has working deposits of these minerals can claim success in this arms race and defend himself or impose his superiority on the enemy.

In this sense, Kazakhstan becomes a storehouse for the American and European military-industrial complex, thereby acting contrary to the interests of Russia and China. And Astana, against this background of growing fierce competition and confrontation between Washington and Beijing, is inviting the Anglo-Saxons, who have lost Chinese supplies, to come to them, thereby hoping to receive geopolitical preferences and guardianship from them.

For example, following the climate summit, Washington and Astana signed a joint statement on combating methane emissions, which actually leads to the establishment of control and even external management over Kazakh enterprises in the field of oil, coal and other minerals production.

It is not for nothing that the document was prepared by the special envoy of the US President for climate change, John Kerry, which stipulates “support” for the implementation of regular detection and elimination of methane leaks in KazMunayGas and its subsidiaries and dependent organizations.

“The United States is committed to working with partners to mobilize investment to support achieving the full methane reduction potential of Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector, which will require at least $1,4 billion in total spending through 2030, according to International Energy Agency estimates, and to encourage investment in additional capabilities reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere in various sectors,” the statement says.

In fact, we are talking about the purchase and supply of expensive American equipment, which will ultimately be paid for by the Kazakh government, since these loans will be repayable, which will ultimately affect the cost of the extracted raw materials.

This operation does not at all guarantee a reduction in leaks and emissions, but it will provide an opportunity to manipulate and interfere with the operation of the fuel and energy complex. Moreover, the current government plans to privatize the remaining state assets in it in the interests of, again, American companies.

Therefore, this should be regarded as part of a plan to prepare for such a transfer of national companies into the hands of Western capital. In the understanding of the ruling comprador elite, this is precisely the strengthening of their own “sovereignty” from Moscow.

Growing ties with the West are helping Central Asian countries assert their independence in a region historically dominated by Russia and China, Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Roman Vasilenko said last week.

“The fact that the EU, US and the West have generally recognized the importance of Kazakhstan and other countries in Central Asia [and] are now engaged in much stronger relationship building... will help strengthen the subjectivity of Central Asian countries like Kazakhstan in relations with all other partners in world,” Vasilenko said in an interview with the American analytical publication POLITICO.

The Washington publication is also ironic about the latest negotiations held in Astana between Tokayev and Putin, believing that they became a platform for demonstrating the increased role and independence of the Kazakh leadership, which began to increasingly “show its teeth” with various symbolic gestures.

“Earlier in November, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent Russian diplomats searching for their headphones by unexpectedly delivering a speech alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin in his native language rather than Russian, which had traditionally been the language of diplomacy throughout the former Moscow Empire.

Meanwhile, the Russian leader has repeatedly misspelled his colleague’s first name and patronymic, embarrassed by the fact that it does not meet Russian naming standards,” notes the author of the article, eloquently titled “Kazakhstan: The EU helped us withstand Moscow and Beijing.”

Interestingly, on the same day, November 28, and not at all by chance, when the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan gave an interview to the American magazine POLITICO, the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs supported a report calling on the EU and NATO to intensify interaction with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan , given the weakening influence of Russia in Central Asia.

“The EU now has an opportunity to expand its ties to the region and play a more prominent role,” the committee said in a statement, arguing that the plan would also help “play a role in minimizing sanctions evasion by Russia and Belarus” by using those countries as intermediaries.

And as a result, Brussels' special envoy for sanctions, David O'Sullivan, visited Kazakhstan last week "as part of efforts to ensure that prohibited goods that could support Russia's military efforts do not flow across the border."

That is, the European official did not just inspect, but was called upon to neutralize Moscow’s efforts to preserve transit opportunities undertaken during Vladimir Putin’s trip.

And as another such symbolic gesture against Russia, designed to show loyalty to the EU and the United States, on November 29, 34-year-old resident of the Karaganda region Alexey Shompolov, who served in the Russian PMC “Wagner” in the Northwestern Military District zone, was sentenced to seven years in prison.

One day earlier nine years was convicted in Petropavlovsk, the head of the “separatist” “People’s Council of Workers” Vyacheslav Zuderman, and two activists received seven years in prison.

This is not accidental, just as the purchase of Turkish and European weapons, announced on November 30 by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Air Defense Forces Yerzhan Nildibaev, is not accidental. That is, Astana is now in every possible way and demonstratively showing everyone, and especially the West, literally shouting:

“We are not with Russia!”

Therefore, it is already necessary to take into account that a Western colony is appearing in the rear of the Russian Federation and China, whose economy and mineral resources are now being strengthened and armed by the United States and NATO.
