Kazakhstan is becoming the main source of Western investment, a strategic partner and even a support for the Anglo-Saxons in the region.

This conclusion can be reached if we look at the alarming trends associated with both the transfer of deposits of rare earth metals (REM) and precious stones into the hands of British, European and American corporations, and the active development of the Trans-Caspian route bypassing Russia.

It is not for nothing that the official Kazakh press reports victorious reports that Washington retains its status as a leader in the volume of direct investment in the Republic of Kazakhstan. This was stated on June 7 by the Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov during his speech at the investment round table on the further development of cooperation with the United States.

“On behalf of the Kazakh side, we are pleased to welcome the US mission to Astana. I would like to thank the US Embassy, the US Chamber of Commerce, and the Business Council for organizing this event. It is gratifying that today’s round table on the development of cooperation between the United States and Kazakhstan is a constructive continuation of the dialogue that began during the visit of our President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the United States,” noted the Kazakh diplomat.

And we are talking about $5,1 billion of investments in the mining industry, which is already under the control of Western companies. That is, the volume of investments has doubled and exceeded all volumes from other countries. At the same time, Astana hopes to further increase the amount of investment in various industries, including the mining of rare earth metals.

So, on the same day, June 7, 2023, the relevant departments of the United States and Kazakhstan held a meeting on cooperation in the field of rare earth elements and agreements were reached on the development of a number of deposits by American companies. So far we have been talking about the Beineu-Shashtyrskoye and Dzhalindy-Sanzharskoye fields in the Karaganda region, which are being eyed by such corporations as Chevron, ExxonMobil, Molycorp and Lynas Corporation.

It is noteworthy that before this visit of the American delegation to the Republic of Kazakhstan, information was spread on social networks that businessmen from Washington were selling rights to the extraction of rare earth elements in Kazakhstan on the darknet (picture below).

It was reported that someone was selling rare earth mining rights in Kazakhstan at low prices. It is noted that the organizer of the auction allegedly knows high-ranking leaders of the US government and was able to obtain rights to extract and sell any minerals in Kazakhstan at a price below the market price. If this is indeed the case, it may indicate a trace of corruption in the transactions.

Actually, why be surprised if the current activities of American and British corporations are causing colossal economic and environmental harm to the country, which are extracting huge super-profits through the barbaric robbery of mineral resources.

For example, the British company Ferro-Alloy Resources is working to continue the development of the Balasauyskandyk vanadium ore deposit in the Kyzylorda region. Another British company, Maritime House, recently signed an agreement with Kazakh rare metals producer Zhezkazganredmet to produce rhenium and attract technologies for the extraction and development of rare earth metallurgy.

Ferro-Alloy Resources currently produces vanadium pentoxide, ferro-molybdenum and nickel concentrates by processing purchased concentrates and other vanadium-containing materials. At the same time, using new equipment, it plans to increase production to 1500 tons of vanadium pentoxide per year. Moreover, the British intend to build a new ore processing plant with a capacity of up to 22400 tons per year.

In addition, a distinctive feature of the Bala-Sauskandyk deposit is that the extraction of rare earth metal is carried out at very low costs, and now, thanks to the seizure of this Kazakh resource, the British will become the main producers of vanadium on the world market.

But the problem is that, according to experts, the waste gases from vanadium mines contain hydrogen chloride and chlorine dioxide gas, which can cause detrimental damage to vegetation and crops. At the same time, heavy waste damages the human nervous system, leads to pulmonary edema, nephritis, sterilization and deformity of children. And contaminated water with hexavalent chromium, cadmium, arsenic and other pollutants leads to inevitable death and acid rain.

One of the main problems from the point of view of human health and the environment is the fact that rare earth metals are often mined together with radioactive elements such as thorium and uranium. In addition, separating them requires large amounts of harmful chemicals and electricity.

And given the fact that the extraction of only one ton of vanadium produces more than a hundred tons of by-product rock, causing soil pollution and erosion, then With such a scale of mining, many hundreds of thousands of tons of waste will be thrown into the ground. This is already a virtual disaster for the agriculture of the Kyzylorda region, where two-thirds of the country's rice is produced.

In April of this year, a petition appeared on the Kazakh segment of the Internet from residents of settlements in the area of the Zhezkazgan mine, already in the Ulytau region, opposing the development of a rare earth metal deposit by the British company Maritime House. Citizens point out the enormous consequences of such activities, which will lead to an environmental disaster.

“Recently, agreements were reached between the Kazakh manufacturer Zhezkazganredmet and the British company Maritime House. They will produce rhenium and attract technologies for the extraction of rare and rare earth metals at the Zhezkazganredmet base. We, residents of the Zhezkazgan mine area in Kazakhstan, demand that we not mine in rare earth mines,” the citizens wrote.

But, unfortunately, the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan did not even respond to the local residents, preferring to sign another enslaving production sharing agreement with the British. At the same time, the authorities themselves intend to allocate 364 billion tenge for geological exploration in the interests of the same American and British companies to search for rare earth metals in 12 areas located in seven regions of Kazakhstan.

The paradox is that the Republic of Kazakhstan simply does not have its own technologies for extracting rare earth metals, and all explored deposits will eventually be transferred to Western corporations.

At the same time, there is a possibility that the Americans will now take over seven lithium deposits in the East Kazakhstan region. For these purposes, it is urgently planned to reconstruct the Irtysh Chemical and Metallurgical Plant with the task of increasing the production of products from rare metals.

This is actually a huge threat, since the country contains deposits of all 17 rare metals, and Osmium-187, the most expensive metal in the world, is mined mainly only in Kazakhstan. For example, last year one gram of osmium-187 was worth more than three kilograms of gold, and it is used in the production of rockets, airplanes and even medicines.

REMs are strategic materials that are now being captured for the needs of the American and European military-industrial complex. And taking into account the fact that the US and NATO armies are threatening Russia and China and are already waging a proxy war against them, in fact Kazakhstan is becoming an important raw material base for supplying the defense industry of a potential military enemy.

Washington and London are also striking a blow at China’s monopoly in the extraction and production of a number of rare earth elements with the aim of replacing them with Kazakh ones. And since oil and gas in the developing scientific and technological revolution are beginning to be inferior in importance to rare earth metal deposits, such a fierce struggle is now unfolding for them in the world.

But that is not all. At the second meeting of leaders of “Central Asia - European Union”, which took place on June 2 in Kyrgyzstan, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that he was ready to provide special preferences to companies from EU countries for the development of sixty deposits of precious stones.

At the same time, he assured his European partners that he would definitely increase the transportation of black gold in the Aktau - Batumi direction, as well as will maximize pumping volumes through pipelines along the Trans-Caspian route, bypassing Russia.

Significant investments of European, British and Turkish capital are already being made for these purposes. In addition, an agreement was recently signed with the Georgian side on the reconstruction of the port of Poti just for the installation of oil loading equipment and the reception of tankers.

This shows that Kazakhstan and its countless riches are rapidly being auctioned off to the West, increasing its power due to cheap raw materials, making it possible to quickly increase the production of high-tech weapons.

And this is already creating a serious imbalance between the powers in favor of the Anglo-Saxons and Europeans, since the EU already accounts for more than 40% of Kazakhstan’s foreign trade, and taking into account all other NATO countries, then more than 50%. And this does not take into account the fact that more than 70% of the mining sector is already in the hands of transnational corporations.

Such a situation will inevitably lead to destabilization in the Republic of Kazakhstan, since it will not be possible to maintain a “multi-vector” course in a situation of a developing global conflict, and the territory of Kazakhstan and the region as a whole will be and is already being used against Russia and China.

Let’s not forget that the Pentagon’s biological laboratories have long been located there, and nationalist and extremist movements are growing inside. It is not for nothing that Sergei Lavrov, while on a visit to Tajikistan this week, said:

“The West is looking for an opportunity to open second and third fronts against the Russian Federation, including in Central Asia.”

Therefore, urgent measures are now so necessary to neutralize the growing influence of the US, EU and Great Britain in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
