“The terrorist (as it later turned out, a resident of Odessa B.B. Tikhomirov, born in 1965), put forward the following demands:
1. Cure his sick mother.
2. Call journalists from central TV channels for interviews.
3. Change the constitutional system in Ukraine and annex the Odessa region to Russia.
If his conditions were not met, he promised to detonate an improvised explosive device - to kill himself and the hostages.
The terrorist held a sports bag with boxes from which wires ran to a fuse trigger with a button on the floor between his legs. He held the fuse in his hand.
The head of the regional police, General Katerenchuk, developed and carried out an operational combination.
Two special forces soldiers were dressed up and transformed into “journalists” of the central channels. We entered the room. And in the fifth minute of the interview, having improved the moment, they knocked the fuse out of the terrorist’s hands, together with Colonel Golovin they tied him up and disarmed him,” Avakov described the incident on Facebook.
As PolitNavigator reported, the incident occurred yesterday in Odessa in a shopping center on Panteilemonovskaya Street.
