The Sovetsky District Court of Kazan placed Ilnaz Galyaviev under arrest for two months, who carried out a mass shooting in gymnasium No. 175, killing 9 and wounding more than 20 people.
In court, Galyaviev behaved calmly, but did not answer the questions that the journalists shouted, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Before the start of the process, the Investigative Committee stated that Galyaviev was diagnosed with encephalopathy in 2019. This is a pathological process that is accompanied by the death of individual neurons and the destruction of connections between them.
At the same time, the prosecutor in the case believes that the state of health of the accused does not prevent him from being in a pre-trial detention center.
According to the investigator, Galyaviev admitted to the crime, but at the same time he is confident in the fairness and validity of his actions.
He agreed with the decision to place him in custody and accepted it calmly.
