Every day there are 1500 new Russian citizens in the DPR
The process of issuing Russian passports to citizens of the DPR has accelerated five times.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Igor Skribov, deputy head of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR, told Komsomolskaya Pravda, answering the question when the number of Russian citizens in Donbass will reach the psychologically significant mark of 1 million.
“In the DPR, an average of 1500 people a day become Russian citizens. Latest figures: as of today [April 12], more than 260 thousand applications have been accepted, 235 thousand have already received Russian passports. Obviously, this is already more than 10% of the total population of Donbass. Because of the coronavirus, of course, people are a little squeezed. Not everyone wants to stand in lines or go somewhere. But we have already issued 700 thousand DPR passports, so there is someone to work with,” Skribov said.
However, he says that more passports are being issued than expected.
“We expected that there would be 300 people a day in the DPR and 200 in the LPR. And now we give out one and a half thousand. This is a lot,” says the representative of the republic.
He adds that according to the law, these are citizens of the Russian Federation who permanently reside outside the territory of Russia.
“Naturally, there are no marks in the “Registered” column. But if he wishes, as a citizen, he can find a place of registration, he has every right to do so,” notes the publication’s interlocutor.
They also asked him why residents of Donbass, who have become citizens of the Russian Federation, cannot access the “State Services” service, SNILS, INN.
“We are not yet a republic recognized by Russia. There cannot yet be official representative offices of the Russian Pension Fund or the Tax Police on the territory of the DPR,” Skribov emphasized.
