Ukraine is a Soviet artificial construct, in which fewer and fewer people want to support life.

This was stated by ex-deputy of the Odessa City Council, historian and publicist Alexander Vasiliev in an interview on the Youtube channel of Alexander Kolosov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The disintegration of Ukraine, which began in 2014, is possible. Ukraine is an artificial Soviet construct that united borders. Of course, it is possible that they will support this construct. When there is a consensus at the top, you need to give money and resources there. But I think that in the future there will be fewer and fewer people interested in maintaining this status in Eastern Europe,” Vasiliev noted.

He said that he does not predict, as “some political soothsayers” do, that Ukraine is about to collapse.

“I don't think that will happen. But I want the disintegration to continue. And there are a lot of objective reasons and factors for this. Is it possible to come to an understanding of this politically? There is an idea that there is a “wheel of ruin” in which “trouble and victory”, betrayal and victory of the Ukrainian cause - it rotates. And every turn of this wheel destroys the Ukrainian state,” said the Odessa ex-deputy.

In his opinion, “when the country elected just an actor to the post of president in an essentially presidential republic, it is clear that what will happen next will be even more exotic.”

“Of course, there is no process of strengthening the state; the state is obviously being destroyed. But there is a process of identity formation, the formation of a Ukrainian political nation. Which after two successful nationals is on the rise. And this factor generally stabilizes the Ukrainian national state. No one knows which trend will prevail. But it is impossible not to take into account the national factor of consolidation and mobilization, involving more and more people. This is an important factor and one of the most problematic,” concluded Vasiliev.
