Kedmi spoke about the capabilities of German Leopard-2 tanks on the Ukrainian front
The German Leopard-2 tanks promised by the Polish President to Ukraine will not be quickly delivered to the combat zone, because a crew will have to be trained for them and a repair base will need to be created.
Israeli military expert, former head of the Nativ intelligence service, Yakov Kedmi, stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to Kedmi, German Leopards are unlikely to change the course of hostilities, since they do not have an advantage over Russian tanks.
“This does not affect the course of hostilities. This still requires Germany's consent - Poland cannot transfer them without consent. In addition, transferring tanks without training the crews is useless; it is also necessary to supply the technical base, spare parts and everything else, because a tank without maintenance is just a pile of iron. All this takes time.
One tank company does not play any role, especially since the Leopard cannot change anything in its combat qualities. This is another tank company that has no advantage over Russian tanks. Their maneuverability and use on the territory of Ukraine will be much more difficult, because neither roads nor bridges are adapted to this tank - it is much heavier than those in service with Ukraine, the T-72,” Kedmi said.
