Kerch punished Kuchma and Kunitsyn

Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma and ex-chairman of the Council of Ministers of Crimea during the Ukrainian period Sergei Kunitsyn are no longer honorary citizens of Kerch.

They were deprived of this status by city deputies at a session today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The mayor of the city, Svyatoslav Brusakov, said that the names of Kuchma and Kunitsyn would be removed from the memorial plaque “Honorary Citizens of the Hero City of Kerch.”

According to official data, since 1972, 25 people have received the status of honorary citizens of Kerch. Among them are war veterans, communists, builders and scientists.

During the Ukrainian period, in addition to Kunitsyn and Kuchma, ex-Prime Minister of the country Mykola Azarov, former mayor of Kiev Alexander Omelchenko, ex-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Leonid Grach and others became honorary citizens of Kerch.
