The mayor plans to appeal in court the demolition of the Lenin monument on the main square of the city.
“I also went to court to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the territorial community. And therefore, I think that step by step we will clearly protect the interests of the residents of the city of Kharkov,” Kernes said on the air of the Kharkov Izvestia program.
“I will make every effort to ensure that we clearly understand where the limits of the powers that the governor of the Kharkov region Igor Mironovich Baluta had at his disposal, giving indulgence to anyone who demolishes the monument to Lenin. I think that there is something to work on in this direction, including for law enforcement agencies,” he said, emphasizing that intends to restore the monument.
Kernes is dissatisfied with the work of the police both during the mass action, which ended with the demolition of the monument, and after it.
As PolitNavigator reported, On September 28, participants in a pro-Ukrainian rally in Kharkov left monument to Lenin standing on Freedom Square. Chairman of the Kharkov Regional State Administration Igor Baluta issued an order to dismantle the monumentwhen this process was already underway. After thisthe main case against the radicals was closed.
