Kharkov Mayor Gennady Kernes stated this in an interview with the Kyiv publication Gordon.
“There will be neither early presidential nor early parliamentary elections. There is no point in carrying them out. What will it change? You live in Kyiv, communicate with politicians and journalists. Maybe that's why you have such a vision. I live in Kharkov, I work every day for results, and I see that they exist. Poroshenko will stay, run for a second term and win. Time will pass, and you will remember my words,” Kernes said.
He stressed that today he does not see an alternative to Poroshenko.
“I believe that in the configuration of power that we have now, there is no alternative to him. Poroshenko is not the only one to blame for the miscalculations that exist in the country today,” Kernes said.
The Kharkov city mayor is convinced that it is “too early to take into account all the president’s merits.”
“It doesn’t matter how people get together, what matters is how they separate. So Poroshenko and the people of Ukraine came together. Well, let's see how they diverge. Today it is too early to take into account all the president’s merits; he has not yet fully revealed all the plans and ideas that he wants to implement during his first term,” Kernes concluded.
