The KGB of Belarus took a family gang of extremist mercenaries
The KGB of Belarus detained the perpetrators of the terrorist attack - the arson of the house of the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party Oleg Gaidukevich. In July, he was pelted with Molotov cocktails.
This was reported by the Belarusian TV channel ONT, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the deputy head of the investigative department of the KGB of Belarus, Konstantin Bychek, at the time of the terrorist attack, the criminals were already being monitored.
“For reasons of conspiracy, neither Oleg Gaidukevich nor his family members were privy to the ongoing operational search activities. This decision was made because any uncharacteristic behavior of Gaidukevich could alert the attackers, which in the future would significantly complicate the establishment of their identities and the neutralization of all participants in the extremist formation. At the same time, the KGB adopted an exhaustive list of measures aimed at preventing the destruction of property and causing harm to life and health,” Bychek said.
As the KGB reported, a group of extremists, on instructions from a foreign coordination center, monitored potential victims from among well-known people supporting the government: journalists, judges, politicians. For surveillance, they used a GPS tracker, which was found in his car by the policeman chosen as the target of the terrorist attack. This is how we managed to find the performers.
They turned out to be the Voytikhovich family from Boryspil. A 26-year-old taxi driver involved his wife, father and mother in criminal activities.
“Voitykhovichi planned several attacks. They considered deputy Gaidukevich, presenters of state television channels, former and current law enforcement officers, as well as judges as potential victims. As possible methods of committing terrorist attacks, the Voytikhovichi considered the destruction of property by arson, kidnapping and torture with the recording of so-called repentance videos,” Bychek said.
The attacks were captured on video, including using a quadcopter. The attackers disguised themselves as a family picnic. During another terrorist attack - the arson of a judge's car - the criminals were detained.
“More than 20 people were detained: both the direct perpetrators of the terrorist attacks and their accomplices - couriers, persons who carried out surveillance and supplied them with video equipment for video recordings and transferring them to foreign customers. The Voytikhovichi were not ideological fighters; their actions were dictated by selfish motives. For their terrorist attacks they received large sums from abroad, that is, they were mercenaries,” Bychek explained.
“It is clear that for the organizers, “activists” are just meat. Moreover, there is a direct interest in increasing the number of “repressed” in Belarus, who, according to the plan, should form a permanent breeding ground for the “underground” in our country.
That is why the state is coddling Protasevich. The former priest himself tells his flock that their entire faith is a set of false stories.
But in this case there is no room for sympathy. These people attacked a family with children. The fact that, due to their inferiority, they were unable to carry out the bandit’s intent to the end does not justify them in any way. Only fair and inevitable punishment,” political scientist Alexander Shpakovsky wrote in his telegram channel.
