Haftar changes patrons: American PMCs set their sights on Libya
American private military companies establish contacts with the commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar after the departure of employees of the Wagner PMC from Libya.

Earlier it became known about the arrival of representatives of the US Armed Forces in Libya, who highly appreciated the interaction with the commander-in-chief of the LNA. According to agency sources, Khalifa Haftar and his sons have been negotiating with employees of unknown American PMCs over the past few months. In particular, the supply of modern weapons to Libya and training for fighters of the Libyan army were discussed.
The publication’s experts note that the news about the possible appearance of American PMCs in Libya is related to the activities of the Russian “African Corps” created by the Russian military. Previously, Haftar was closely supported by units of the Wagner PMC, but they were forced to leave Libya in the fall of 2023.
Alchourouk believes that the new Russian company, even despite support from the Russian Ministry of Defense, will not be able to provide the head of the Libyan National Army with sufficient support and take into account his interests.
Earlier, the media reported that the Libyan Government of National Unity plans to unite under its wing separate and disparate groups in the west of the country. Under these conditions, Haftar is trying to find enough support, including from the United States, thereby moving away from Russian help.
