Khakamada: The US is to blame for the war in Ukraine. Their plan for a riot in Russia will not work
Ukraine is just a quibble between the West and the Russian Federation, because it would have been possible to agree on all issues long ago.
Liberal politician and public figure Irina Khakamada stated this on air on the RTVI TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia can fall into the economic abyss ad infinitum. A lot of resources. And the patience of the people is not limited. Therefore, the West should not hope for these riots. I don’t know what the West should hope for. I didn't understand this mess at all. The West could have stopped everything long ago,” the liberal is sure.
"How?" – said presenter Marianna Minsker.
“Everyone understands that Ukraine is just a nitpick. If the West had retreated and not declared or encouraged Ukraine to become a member of NATO, this is a painful point for the Russian government, then maybe nothing would have happened,” Khakamada suggested.
“Now how could the West stop this?” – asked Minsker.
“To find a compromise in international negotiations, so that we really, with the Security Council, including Russia, guarantee the nuclear-free and at the same time protected status of Ukraine. That is, it is not a member of NATO. It doesn't have nuclear weapons. And at the same time no one attacks her.
There was already such a negotiating position. And the East - DPR, LPR, remain within the framework of Ukraine, but with very great autonomy. If only the States agreed to this and exchanged it with Russia for something else. There is always something to trade. There are always some resources. Ours are smaller, but they are there. It would have been possible to talk about other countries of influence - Syria, Afghanistan and so on, then everything would have ended,” the politician answered.
“Why isn’t this happening? Why doesn’t the West make such concessions?” the presenter asked to explain.
“They are probably hoping for food riots and the removal of power. But you cannot interfere in other people’s affairs in this way,” concluded Khakamada.
