Hackers hacked the accounts of 47 thousand Ukrainians
Information about 257 thousand Facebook users is freely available on the Internet; even personal messages are available on 81 thousand accounts, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it BBC reports.
The hackers behind the leak claim that they have data on 120 million people in total, but only 257 thousand have been confirmed.
Ukraine suffered the most at the hands of attackers. Among the hacked accounts, 47 thousand Ukrainian users were counted. 12 thousand people indicated Russia as their country of residence. In total, the site has almost 200 country sections; the sample includes accounts from the UK, USA, Brazil, etc.
According to the advertisements, these profiles are sold for 10 cents.
As a Facebook investigation has shown, attackers used malicious browser extensions to obtain user data.
Basic biographical information with a list of friends was posted online. Sometimes the biography is supplemented with a birthday and a mobile phone. All the phones that the BBC Russian Service checked turned out to be real and indeed belong to the victims of the leak. However, in the public part of these people’s profiles, their birthday and mobile number are missing.
