Khan to the Ukrainian forest - the head of the European Commission said that Poroshenko is about to lift the ban on the export of wood to the EU

This was announced, however, not by Poroshenko himself, but by the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker. This once again emphasized the dependent nature of current Ukraine in relation to the EU.

According to Juncker, in return Brussels will provide Kiev with another financial handout “to support the pants” - the second tranche of macro-financial assistance in the amount of €600 million. However, this assistance will be provided only if a law is passed allowing the export of Ukrainian timber.

“I am glad that the Ukrainian president intends to lift the ban on timber exports through legislation. This was our demand, and we received the corresponding reaction: this will happen in the coming days or weeks. The lifting of the ban will allow us to authorize the final tranche of €600 million, which we promised Ukraine as part of our support,” Juncker said at a press conference after the Ukraine-EU summit in Brussels.

Let us remind you that Ukrainian environmentalists are already sounding the alarm in connection with massive predatory deforestation in the Carpathians. Deforestation has taken on alarming proportions, and previously pretty landscapes have been replaced by “lunar” ones.
