Chaos is intensifying: Ukrainian plumber has begun the formation of parallel authorities
SBU officers broke into the apartment of former plumber Anatoly Balakhin from Dnepropetrovsk, who recently declared himself the leader of the “constitutionalist” movement, claiming that all Ukrainian authorities are illegitimate because they are successors to structures from the times of the USSR.
The SBU’s visit to Balakhin took place on the eve of the meeting he announced in Kyiv, where it was planned to announce the creation of the “All-Ukrainian National Congress” - a “real parliament” instead of the Verkhovna Rada.
“The brutal SBU officers knocked down the doors of human rights activist and defender of political prisoners Anatoly Balakhnin, brutally threw him to the ground and trampled on his phone. As if, because of some kind of congress against the authorities... they are sewing Article 109 of the Criminal Code. Now try to go to jail. In general, for nothing, for criticizing the authorities... So each of us will be kicked to the ground and thrown into prison for dissatisfaction,” the ex-commander of the Ukrainian nationalist battalion “Crimea” Stanislav Krasnov supported Balakhin.
Nationalist Yuri (“Hort”) Pavlenko, who trampled on a portrait of ex-president Petro Poroshenko in 2014, also came out in support: “Balakhnin is known for not recognizing any government bodies of Ukraine, since they are the legal successors of the Ukrainian SSR. Based on this, Balakhnin created new authorities in different parts of Ukraine. This became the basis for opening criminal proceedings under Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: “Calls for the overthrow of the constitutional order by force.”
After interrogation by the SBU, Balakhin was released, and he did not abandon his plans. With a group of his supporters, he held a meeting in Kyiv, and then a demonstration on the Maidan.
“All these two years I have been preparing precisely the events of 2020 so that real government-forming meetings could be held, so that Ukrainians would return to rule on their land... What can you do, we knew that it wouldn’t be easy, that we would be interfered with... By a wave swept across Ukraine,” Balakhin announced.
