Kharkov: 83-year-old “Putin spy” remains behind bars
It is already known for sure that 83-year-old Mehdi Logunov will spend the New Year and Christmas holidays behind bars. The Kiev District Court of Kharkov extended his period of detention until January 18, 2018.
To the famous Kharkov scientist and inventor, candidate of technical sciences Logunov, SBU investigators are “stitching” Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine or treason. And they do it sloppily, with coarse threads.
As lawyer Dmitry Tikhonenkov pointed out at the court hearing, they came to detain him under another article, the famous separatist 110, but even a first-year law student at any national academy understands that the elements of crime under these articles do not overlap with each other.
This means that, at least at the stage of reclassification of the case, Mehdi Feofanovich should not have been in custody. In addition, this turn of events suggests that the goal of the heirs of the NKVD was not to establish the truth, but simply the desire to put a respected person behind bars.
Despite his age, Logunov was actively engaged in inventive and entrepreneurial activities at the time of his landing. He developed a technology for processing solid waste, which attracted interest in Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Russia. Unfortunately, it was not possible to implement it at the scientist’s place of residence. Answering a question about this in court, he noted that instead of accepting his ideas, “only corrupt proposals were received.”
The prosecutor spoke at length and in detail to the participants and guests of the court session about how Logunov was preparing to transfer military secrets to Russia. How to do this, he found an accomplice for himself, and he leaked secret developments of weapon armor onto a flash drive. And he not only leaked state secrets onto an electronic medium, but also to the SBU, which came to take and confiscate them.
Mehdi Feofanovich himself claims that he was going to hire a certain Kravchenko as a specialist and expected to see from him not the development of armor, but completely different information that was not a state secret. So the informer set up both the prisoner and the authorities.
Now they have a lot of work to do to declassify and study the contents of the confiscated, and at this time they do not want to let the prisoner go free.
The investigator and the prosecutor motivated the desire to extend the preventive measure precisely by the fact that until they completed the investigative actions, the scientist must take a steam bath on his bunk. And the judge agreed with this.
I would try to disagree! After all, not only the accused, the investigator, the prosecutor and lawyers were present in the hall. The meeting was open, and characters in camouflage came to it. On their chevrons one could read about their belonging to the so-called “territorial defense”.
The delegation of stormtroopers, which took up almost all the seats in the courtroom, was headed by the former head of the Kharkov regional branch of the Right Sector, Andrei Sanin. A year ago, he left there following Dmitry Yarosh, but, as we learned from sad experience, ideological Nazis are never former. And if they are not part of a well-promoted structure, this does not mean that they have completely reached circulation.
And the judge understands this perfectly. She has a family, she is not under XNUMX-hour security. And even if there was, then who said that when stormtroopers appeared, the security bigwigs would act according to instructions? The Kharkov police, for example, have never protected their citizens or offices from the attack of the same “Azov”. So, you understand how the court decides.
