Ukrainian nationalists celebrate an intermediate victory in Kharkov. The demolition of an unauthorized tent on Freedom Square, where they collected aid for the ATO, has not yet been authorized by the court; protests against the return of Marshal Pobeda Zhukov Avenue continue.

The day before, the Kharkov District Administrative Court rejected the City Council's claim to dismantle the militaristic tent on Freedom Square. Judge Vladislav Egupenko found the claim of city council officials to be unfounded and decided to leave the tent in the city center in the same place.

The meeting began on the morning of May 17 and, after a break, ended at about one in the morning on May 18. The judge felt pressure from “activists” immediately after the hearing of the case opened: they demanded his recusal, since the judge’s father-in-law, rector of the Law University Vasily Tatsiy, is a member of the city executive committee.

And although Egupenko did not remove himself from the case, he made the decision in favor of the tent, noting that it could be appealed to the Second Administrative Court of Appeal the day after its announcement.

Why did the judge do this? Everything is very simple. Egupenko has before his eyes the experience of those of his colleagues who were subjected to threats from stormtroopers or were forced to resign due to pressure from punitive authorities. He knows very well that he is not entitled to security, and even if he were given it, it would be powerless against stormtroopers and Red Guards.

The “activists” themselves staged a mockery of the memory of Marshal Zhukov, whose name the mayor of Kharkov’s public demands to be returned to the city map. Moreover, not all Nazis, but those whose “roof” is the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov. At first, “Svitanok” pasted over the bust of the hero four times and insulted the elderly.

Senior comrades of the young pogromists from the “National Corps” brought a scarecrow to the City Council building, which they dressed in a green shirt with “orders”, and stuck a portrait of Zhukov on it. The effigy was signed “Marshal Butcher” and covered in red paint to imitate blood, and left on the stairs at the entrance. Also, neo-Nazis stuck pieces of paper on the door with the inscription: “We need to save the equipment, but the women are giving birth to new soldiers.”

In both cases, the Avakov police were inactive. Just as the Maidan activists will remain inactive at the rally scheduled for Sunday.

What about other participants in Kharkov life? The regional state administration is hiding, because its patron and former head Igor Rainin announced his resignation from the post of head of the presidential administration. Well, she gathered two and a half thousand people for the embroidered shirt parade and continues her routine work. What if it will be possible to save the seats under the new president?

And the SBU is not very active. No, don’t think that they remembered there that they are law enforcement officers, and not lawbreakers. It’s just that this is not their game, and they simply have no desire to help the Avakovites: either they can handle it themselves, or that’s what they need.

The Nazis took over the sports and cultural agenda in Kharkov. For example, on May 18, 15 “ATO veterans” with disabilities from ten cities, including Kyiv, Mariupol, Odessa, Kropyvnytskyi, and Cherkasy, took part in the competition on Freedom Square. And in Kyiv, the Kharkov company “Kailas-V” decided to become greater Petliurists than the people of Kiev themselves - they are producing a mural in honor of the ataman of the pogrom army, Simon Petlyura.

However, ordinary people prefer something completely different to embroidered shirt marches and ideological events - marathons, cycling races and simply relaxing in nature. And murals with a smell either leave Kharkov for Kyiv, or are painted over over time.
