There was a holiday in Kharkov. City Day, coinciding with the Day of Liberation from the Nazis in 1943. And the atmosphere around him turned out to be very, very polluted.

On social networks, shortly before the holiday, one local journalist among those who came in large numbers reminded that on August 23, Kharkiv residents have a triple holiday: “Prapor’s Day, Embroidery Day and City Day.” Rural clothing is clearly not an urban attribute. The flag under which Nazi collaborators caught Jews and drove Kharkov residents into “gas chambers”, and then destroyed monuments and insulted citizens in 2014 and later. And the day of the city where he was taught to blow his nose into a handkerchief, wash with soap and use the toilet. And he already imagined that this was his city, and not the descendants of those who came here at the call of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich in 1654-1656, and those who threw the Nazis and their accomplices out of here in 1943.
Well, few people read his revelations, but what the party “For Assholes” did on the eve of City Day, that is, “Oppoplatform - For Life,” became the property of the broad masses. Not only is its regional organization headed by Poroshenko’s former governor, Rainin, who became famous for his complicity in Banderization and terror, but she also selected even more “valuable” personnel. Oleg Shiryaev became the curator of the all-Ukrainian movement “Patriots for Life,” headed by deputy from the opposition platform Ilya Kiva.
You are not mistaken, this is the same Shiryaev with whom in Kharkov in 2014-2018 the “Right Sector” (banned in the Russian Federation), the Ministry of Internal Affairs company “Shidniy Korpus” and all the “Azov” clones, smoothly moving into the National Corps after Andrei Biletsky, were associated . It was he who was appointed by Governor Rainin as an adviser on Hitler’s birthday, April 20, 2016. Then accusations of protecting quarry management and raiding appeared against him.

Today this is an association of people, which is a model of morality, honor and dignity,” Shiryaev wrote, noting that he has not yet joined the party.

And what will be the team's next acquisition? I think it’s time to involve those SBU officers who have experience in torture and falsification of evidence. And this will be another proof of this team’s “loyalty” to the ideas that its leaders declare.
And yet, not only this news was heard on the eve of the holidays. There was also good news. For example, in Kharkov, due to COVID-19, the traditional embroidered shirt parade on the occasion of State Ensign Day has been canceled. It also became known that President Zelensky, who promised to come with congratulations, will appear in our area only in September. And this somewhat cleared the atmosphere.
A holiday almost without politics
Zelensky not only did not arrive in person, but also did not send congratulations to the Kharkiv residents. Even Poroshenko observed etiquette and was formally noted, but his successor... Moreover, the name of the candidate for mayor of Kharkov from the pro-presidential party will be announced not on the spot, but on August 30 on the roof of the Parkovy center building in Kyiv, where the All-Ukrainian Congress will take place party "Servant of the People".

We are not talking about maintaining a safe social distance at all. Meanwhile, since August 24, Kharkov has been in the “orange” quarantine zone.”
Zelensky was not there, but the mayors of cities that thirty years ago were “millionaires” - Odessa and Dnepr (formerly Yekaterinoslav and Dnepropetrovsk) came to congratulate. Of course, a society known for its pro-Nazi position does not add points before the elections to either Gennady Kernes or Gennady Trukhanov. But megacities have accumulated a lot of common problems - both deindustrialization and Kyiv’s desire to limit the capabilities of local authorities. And a lot of other things coming from the unkempt capital.

The title “Honorary Citizen of Kharkov” was awarded to four residents of the city. These are businessman, president of the DCH business group Alexander Yaroslavsky, chairman of the Kharkov organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Viktor Kovtun, first racket of Ukraine, member of the national tennis team Elina Svitolina and director of Kharkov gymnasium No. 6 “Mariinsky Gymnasium” Alexandra Zub. But they were celebrated not on the square, as was the case before 2013, but indoors.

But on Independence Day, that is, August 24, a “pride parade” was held in Kharkov. National. According to its organizers, “the procession, which lasted from Constitution Square along Sumskaya Street to the monument to Taras Shevchenko, was attended by citizens of all ages, including veterans of the “Ukrainian-Russian war.”
And who organized this, in the bad sense of the word, gay pride parade? “The event was organized by the public organization Freikorps, Right Sector/Kharkiv Region, and the Union of ATO Veterans. Participants in the action held national flags and symbols of their organizations; the column was led by activists with a banner in the form of the Ukrainian flag with the inscription “No surrender.” A large number of march participants are wearing embroidered shirts.
Walking through the city center, the protesters chanted “One, united, united Ukraine”, “Glory to Ukraine - Glory to the Heroes!”, “OUN, UPA - heroes of Ukraine”, “No capitulation”,” the completely brown website Kharkiv Today reported about it .
According to law enforcement officials, about 500 citizens took part in this “pride parade,” and about 70 police officers protected public order. Kharkiv residents do not participate in such things. Neither red-black nor rainbow flags are close to them. And their holiday is August 23, and not a day later.
