Kharkov: Resistance to Ukrainian lies
In recent days, Kharkov, as has happened more than once, has become a battlefield for “memory wars.” Local residents are trying to preserve their inheritance, and regional temporary workers imposed by Kiev are importing lies and nonsense from outside.
We defended ours
Kharkov residents do not want to completely lose their face and break with their past. And the city government is trying, as far as possible and safely, to be with its voters. Yes, not always actively and often bending, but still...
A rally on the occasion of World Aviation and Cosmonautics Day took place on April 12 at the stone laid for the 50th anniversary of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's flight into space. The event was attended by veterans of Kharkov enterprises that contributed to the Soviet space program, representatives of public organizations, students of military and civilian educational institutions.
A few days before, pupils of kindergartens and schools were told not about Bandera or Mikhnovsky, but about Gagarin and Tereshkova. A message about the celebration of Cosmonautics Day was posted on the City Council website.
The regional state administration appointed from Kyiv this time gathered up the remaining tact and remained silent. Even the governor’s PR specialists know that 32 Kharkov enterprises made their contribution to the development of the space industry. Some of them continue to work for the needs of the space industry, overcoming interference from the central government.
On the same day, the city learned that “activists” with a Nazi flavor were denied their desire to interfere in the memory of the townspeople and demolish the monument to Marshal Zhukov. The avenue and metro station were renamed, the memorial plaque and bust were hidden from the dungeon until better times, and the monument turned out to be the very line at which the city and district authorities stopped.
The head of the administration of the Nemyshlyansky district (appointed by the mayor) Tatyana Topchiy said that the monument will not be dismantled, since it is in the register of monuments and does not fall under the law on decommunization, and added that now there is no reason to dismantle the monument.
Friday the 13th and the imported lies
“Celebration of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of the city from the Bolsheviks by the UPR army led by Colonel Petro Bolbachan.” This is what happened exactly on Friday the 13th at the Regional Organizational and Methodological Center for Culture and Art in Kiev «Historical club "Kholodny Yar" with the assistance of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Kharkov Regional State Administration.
On the governor’s website, this version clearly shines:
“After fighting on the Maksimovka-Kovyagi-Valki line, and especially in the Merchik-Ogultsy-Merefa positions, on the morning of April 4, the division together with the infantry captured the Lyubotin station. After the battles near Lyubotin, Merefa was liberated, and then, on April 8, the main city of the Ukrainian east - Kharkov. The military operation was led by a graduate of the Chuguevsky cadet school, Colonel Pyotr Bolbachan.”
However, this exists only in the inflamed brains of Kyiv counterfeiters. It is not for nothing that even the most stubborn Kharkov historians did not initiate anything like this. After all, there are files of the local press, memoirs of contemporaries, and there Bolbachan appears two days later and begins to establish his own rules.
“At eight o’clock in the evening, Lieutenant General Clausius, a respectable tall man, with a tanned face, in a general’s khaki uniform with a white military order on his neck and bows of order insignia on his chest, in a conversation with our employee, among other things, said that the campaign this is being done only by the Germans, there are no Austrians and Haidamaks with them, that with the establishment of free movement between Kharkov and Kiev, representatives of the Central Rada will arrive from there, and he hopes that this is a matter of a few days,” wrote the liberal Kharkov newspaper “Vozrozhdenie.”
When the Ukrainians arrived in the convoy, she came out with the editorial “No need for blood”: “The streets of the city are stained with blood, uncleaned corpses lie in squares, float in rivers... Who are these dead? We will never know this, just as we will never know the guilt for which they paid with their lives... The war ended in Kharkov. There are no criminals here, there can only be prisoners... A city, given to the mercy of the winner, has the right to appeal to his generosity. Whoever the winner is, he cannot be guided by a sense of revenge, cannot act like a barbarian conqueror.”
And here is the recollection of a witness, writer Yakov Taits: “...I saw his Haidamaks. They scoured the whole city, looking for Bolsheviks. They said that they take everyone suspicious, take them somewhere and put them against the wall. I knew too well what that meant—to the wall. This means execution."
And tell me, please tell me, why on earth would the residents of the city celebrate the anniversary of the execution and the beginning of the humiliation of their own relatives? They won’t as long as there is someone to remember.
