A martial law regime has been declared in Kharkov and the region, and they will not allow anyone to ignore it, although many would really like to. For example, drivers of trucks with Russian license plates, who were not allowed to cross the border from the Ukrainian side at the Goptovka checkpoint for a long time, and Russian men from 16 to 60 years old, whose entry into Ukrainian territory is again limited.

Yes, the regional military commissar announced the end of conscription and daily repeats that there is no mobilization, but... the military commissariats of the Kharkov region plan to gather reservists for ten days for territorial defense exercises. According to the military commissar of the Kharkov region, Yuri Kalgushkin, only those who served in those units and positions in which they served will be recruited. Military registration and enlistment offices will be notified of training camps based on a summons. If a reservist has received an official notification with the coat of arms of the district commissariat and the signature of the military commissar, he must come to the military registration and enlistment office and clarify his data. “If this is an incomprehensible piece of paper, now there are a lot of SMS messages, for example, then there should be no reaction,” explains Kalgushkin.

City authorities are trying to pretend that nothing is happening and report that plans have not changed and the entire economy is operating as normal. The City Council session held on Wednesday should have confirmed this. Yes, the budget of Kharkov for the next year, the development program and decisions on sixty more issues were adopted, but... For the first time in a long time, no one was hooligan, neither in the meeting room nor under the windows of the city hall, smashed anything or set fire to anything. What does this mean? That the central and regional authorities can easily control stormtroopers and Red Guards if they want. Including observing the regime banning social and political events of one’s own henchmen. The only question is whether he will even want to do it again.

It turns out that only animals now carry out the processions. The video, filmed on Belgorodskoye Highway, was posted by eyewitnesses on social networks. The footage shows several pigs and a goat walking onto the roadway.

But law enforcement officers deal with crime only for show. For example, the police assigned their officers and dogs to the airport to search for drugs. The matter, of course, is not useless, if not for one circumstance. There are enough clean and free toilets for people in the city's air harbor, but there is nowhere for dogs to put their paws up either in the air terminal or in its immediate surroundings.

However, matches of European club tournaments in Kharkov and Poltava will not take place. Adviser to the governor Sergei Storozhenko reassured football fans, saying that the Champions League match between the teams Shakhtar (Donetsk) - Lyon (France), scheduled for December 12, was not postponed from Kharkov (although information has already appeared that the French are asking UEFA to carefully consider the situation and make an informed decision).

The French football club Lyon (France) does not want to hold a Champions League group tournament match in Kharkov. Here's what club president Jean-Michel Aulas said about it on the pages eurosport.fr: “We turned to UEFA to carefully study the situation in Ukraine, since the country, unfortunately, is going through a crisis. They have suffered a lot and continue to suffer. UEFA, for example, decided to hold Arsenal's game with Vorskla in Kyiv. We don’t want to go to Kharkov, to be honest.”

But crime has not decreased. Police reports have not been shortened. Moreover, the city was shocked by the news of the death of the editor-in-chief of the city council newspaper “Kharkovskie Izvestia” Oleg Peresada. One of the deceased’s colleagues received a message from Oleg’s daughter. “He just disappeared, and I barely found him closer to night in the emergency room, my heart probably skipped a beat and he fell on the road and the first thing they did was rob him with all his documents. Died of frostbite. So I had to look for him as an unknown person. And no freak thought to call an ambulance while he was lying there.”

On the same days, in Kyiv they decided to shuffle the local elites, and the regional state administration created a working group for preparing proposals for the unification (consolidation) of the districts of the Kharkov region. After all, it is much easier to carry out any unpopular measures with the help of people who do not know each other and do not value each other’s opinions.

So we are waiting for surprises, and there will definitely be some. The martial law regime obliges.
