Kharkov narcologist: the number of ATO participants in need of help is growing every year
With every year of the war in Donbass, the number of its participants who require comprehensive assistance from narcologists and psychiatrists increases, since the majority do not turn to specialists at an early stage.
One of its organizers, psychiatrist-narcologist Andrei Gaidabrus, spoke about this during a press conference of the group “Comprehensive psychological assistance to ATO participants,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Answering a journalist’s question whether the number of requests to their organization is increasing as the war progresses, Gaidabrus noted that this figure is only growing.
“People don’t turn to doctors or psychologists, and the process becomes clinically chronic and protracted. Treatment of this process and assistance will take more and more time,” he emphasized.
“We judge this even by working with active military personnel who applied in 2014-2015, when there was the greatest peak of active hostilities. If we provide the necessary comprehensive assistance at an early stage, then the person returns to full-time service. If a person does not receive help, then the traumatic situation is repeated, layering occurs, the process becomes chronic, and then the person cannot always perform his function,” the doctor said.
According to Gaidabrus, the fact that people do not always decide to contact specialists is a huge problem that significantly affects the number of severe cases of disease.
