For the first time, a proposal to include on the agenda the issue of recognizing Russia as an aggressor country was made by regional council deputy Alexander Bandurka.
61 deputies voted to support this decision, as a result of which the decision could not be made.
After this, a discussion began in the session hall about putting the issue of recognizing Russia as an aggressor country on the agenda. Regional Council Deputy Ivan Varchenko proposed bringing this issue back for consideration.
Chairman of the Kharkov Regional State Administration Igor Rainin noted that 37 deputies did not vote on this issue. He emphasized that these deputies accordingly do not have any position regarding the decision of the Verkhovna Rada.
“We cannot but support BP’s decision. This is anti-state activity. Make your choice,” Raikin urged. In his opinion, the recognition of Russia by the Kharkov Regional Council as an aggressor country has moral significance.
During the second vote, 63 deputies voted in favor of including the issue of recognizing Russia as an aggressor country on the agenda; again, the decision could not be made.
Let us note that before the start of the session, the regional council was picketed by a small group of representatives of the VO “Svoboda”.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier in the Kharkov City Council, Mayor Gennady Kernes also refused to put a similar issue on the agenda, citing personal and business ties with Russia.
