The Helsinki Human Rights Union joined in the intimidation of Ukrainian fans
The Ukrainian branch of the Helsinki Union for Human Rights has joined the Petro Poroshenko regime's campaign to intimidate fans planning to attend the World Cup in Russia.
The corresponding statements were made at a press conference in Kyiv by Oleg Martynenko, head of the analytics department of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union for Human Rights, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“There is such a concept in criminology as victimization, a behavior that suggests a person will be a victim of a crime. So, this category of our fans is extremely vulnerable, or, in scientific terms, victimized.
Because they come for a short period of time, and they, unlike our migrant workers, do not agree to obey Russian traditions and laws in order to earn money. They are going to have fun, so their behavior will initially be neutral at best, but not one that would completely suit Russian legislation.
The fan can shout his chants in the stadium. After the stadium, he can walk the streets and talk, emotionally share his impressions, including in Ukrainian language, which can also attract the attention of patriotic Russians.
It is difficult to predict what the outcome of these discussions will be. There may also be conflicts.
Let's add living conditions, purchasing various goods, where various violations, conflicts, and quarrels are also possible.
Thus, we get 5 thousand of our citizens who have placed themselves in an environment in which they are the object of increased criminal interest on the part of law-abiding citizens not only of Russia, but also of other countries,” said the “human rights activist.”
