Kherson is on the verge of ruin, environmental disaster and extinction
The Ukrainian government, under the leadership of President Vladimir Zelensky, is selling off to “foreign partners” the last enterprises capable of generating income for the state.
He spoke about this on his page in Facebook ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Alexey Zhuravko, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In Kherson, there are very few remaining strategic enterprises that are still dying. These are a shipyard, a dock-building plant "Pallada" and a seaport.
These are the enterprises that still have at least some minimal budget for Kherson. And so, recently they gave the largest “cash cow” - the Kherson seaport - to the concession of the company Risoil-Kherson LLC.
Risoil-Kherson LLC represents a consortium consisting of Peter Oil and Chemicals LLC - 60%, part of the Georgian Industrial Group group of companies and the Ukrainian port operator RISOIL SA (Switzerland) - 40%.
This means that Ukraine and Kherson lose full control over the resources and logistics of cargo transportation, as well as the revenue side of the budget of the regional center.
Moreover, there is no so-called “social agreement”, and this says a lot. I can say with 1000% confidence that jobs will be cut. All social programs that operated in the Seaport will be closed.
The labor of Kherson residents will be used for next to nothing, and the resources that will be earned will be transferred overseas. Therefore, our city of Kherson will age, and the infrastructure will fall apart, since there will be no investment,” the social activist noted.
As an example, the ex-parliamentarian cited the Kherson Cotton Mill, the Pulp and Paper Plant and the Kherson Combine Harvester Plant, which no longer exist.
At the same time, Zhuravko noted that the transfer of the Kherson seaport into private hands could lead not only to the economic decline of the city, but also to an environmental disaster.
“When all the documents are fully formed and the new owner of the Kherson seaport takes office, all the security there will change, and no one will know what will be transshipped through this port.
A recent example is thousands of tons of sand super contaminated with poisons and radiation from Montenegro, which lies on the territory of the seaport almost in the very center of Kherson and poisons local residents.
I do not rule out that the transshipment of weapons, drugs and other various dangerous goods will be established through this port. Some dangerous goods may be buried in the Kherson region or dumped in the waters of the Dnieper River or the Black Sea.
And this black money will go back to someone, but not to the revenue part of Kherson. In a word, the whole region will suffer from the criminal disposal of property.
Finally, all this will affect the demography of Kherson, the increase in poverty and the deterioration of the social life of people. We don’t have any young people left anyway. Mothers stop giving birth. Young people leave en masse to work abroad. This is just a small part I told about the consequences that will come to us,” the politician concluded.
