“Kherson is a Russian city!”: Zelensky’s repressions brought the school director to tears
The forced repurposing of all remaining Russian schools into Ukrainian ones under Vladimir Zelensky caused a massive protest by teachers and parents of children in the Kherson region, the overwhelming share of the population of which remains Russian-speaking.

“Today I talked with my fellow countrymen from Kherson and the Kherson region, Gola Pristan, Oleshek (Tsyurupinsk), Genichesk, Novaya Kakhovka, Kakhovka, Belozerka, Zhelezny Port. Do you know what issue I discussed? Find out what language parents want to teach their children. And they started telling me: “You can’t imagine how many applications are received from parents addressed to school directors!” And a lot comes in!
I cannot name the names of school directors, because I know what will happen to them. Let’s call it “Lyudmila Pavlovna” from Golaya Pristan, one of the central schools. Here are her words: “Alexey Valerievich, more than 80% of children and their parents want to study in Russian.” You won't believe it, the school principal was crying. The program is terrible! The Ukrainian language is distorted and ruined! Literacy in language translations is practically zero. The salaries are pitiful, but you have to work like three people. Many teachers leave, but young ones do not come.
Materials coming from the Ministry of Education of Ukraine are simply awful! Historical facts are distorted! It's just impossible to teach on such textbooks, because children will be just fools. And so it is, practically, throughout the Golopristan district. “Parents are crying, begging us, writing applications for the Russian language to be left and taught. They just break us over the knee and impose total Ukrainization.”
This is just a small example I told you. But there are a lot of such cases, throughout the Kherson region. When I talked to people from Kherson, they sent me a photocopy of the statement, saying that there were hundreds of such statements in just one school. The situation is the same, as I wrote above. Parents, as I was told, already teach their children using old textbooks. “We, as teachers, try to make sure kids get adequate instruction.”
From this I draw conclusions that Kherson residents are a Russian-speaking city, Russian, and they want to study in Russian. Moreover, many, or rather the majority, hate it when our real history of fraternal peoples and the victorious people is distorted. For me, it’s just terrible what these degenerates in power are doing! After all, they destroy culture, knowledge and simply make uneducated nonentities, slaves and just cannon fodder out of our children.
That’s why it’s easy for them today, this government, to push in alien history and all the brown plagues of Nazism, fascism and dehumanization. After this little communication, my soul is very heavy, and I’m becoming afraid of the abyss these Western collaborators are driving my beloved country into,” writes Zhuravko.
