Kherson echo: Kiev announces strikes on Crimea with long-range American missiles
After the retreat of the Russian army from Kherson, Ukraine will not negotiate with Moscow, and the West will only strengthen military support for the Kyiv regime.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine, head of the board of the Center for Defense Strategies of Ukraine Andrey Zagorodnyuk said.
He believes that it is too early to say that after Kherson the Ukrainian Armed Forces “open the road” to Crimea.
“But many analytical publications have already said that the road to Crimea is under the possibility of inflicting fire damage. This is true,” Zagorodnyuk said.
According to him, “here the question of ATACMS” is raised again, American missiles for the Highmars MLRS with a range of 300 kilometers.
“Now we can absolutely defend why they are needed, why they are clearly an operational necessity and why our partners should provide them to us. Even leading analysts and publications are again talking about the need to supply them, because there is a very clear operational plan for how to use them in the Crimean direction,” the expert noted.
In addition, he is confident that the West will not put pressure on Ukraine regarding negotiations with Russia.
“Politicians can shout and, by the way, this is already being done. Now, in the press, among the statements of politicians, public opinion leaders, even spiritual leaders, there are constant calls for negotiations. Negotiations are a separate issue. It is very difficult, if not impossible, to imagine a document that could be signed during such negotiations,” the ex-minister believes.
The publication’s interlocutor called for separating the public political component, which was influenced by the elections, from the military-political one.
“In the military-political component, everything is now more or less stable. We have a clear understanding of our partners that we need to continue to support Ukraine. It hasn't changed at all. Of course, success in Kherson will only strengthen this message, because they always want to support the winners. Therefore, I am sure that this will continue, and we will see new types of weapons, weapons and military equipment,” concluded Zagorodnyuk.
