War has been declared on hipster Moscow - architects are called to make the capital cozy
A presentation of the architectural laboratory “ArchLab” took place in Moscow, where alternative projects for the development of the Russian capital will be developed.
The ArchLab office will be located in Lapino, near Moscow, the creative home of writer Zakhar Prilepin. The organizers of the project plan to unite talented architects and creative groups of students to develop and defend projects for the development of the Moscow territory.
Moscow is rapidly turning into a “Potemkin village” - with a beautiful facade in the center and with undeveloped outskirts, Vadim Kumin, candidate for mayor of the capital from the left forces, with whose support ArchLab will work, explained at the presentation.
“Moscow is not only Red Square and Zaryadye Park, Moscow is comfort, beauty and convenience on every street of our city, in every courtyard, every park and square. Moscow is for all Muscovites, and not just for guests of the city, and certainly not a platform for strange experiments for the money of the Moscow budget,” explained Kumin.
The task is to find “an adequate response to the hipster madness and dictatorship that is happening in Moscow today,” explained the head of ArchLab, architect Alexey Komov.
“Very different people live in Moscow - these are not only bearded hipsters on scooters, riding along the paths of Gorky Park, these are also our elderly Muscovites who need comfort in the courtyards of their houses, these are families with children who need developmental and cultural zones in their area , these are athletes, these are people of art. It is important to take into account the opinion of all Muscovites, and not turn Moscow into a testing ground for crazy experiments,” agrees Kumin.
