According to the press service, the draft document proposes to make changes, including to the law “On the procedure for sending units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to other states,” which should also apply to the National Guard. And the corresponding changes will make it possible to send individual units of the NSU for their participation in international operations to maintain peace and security as part of national contingents in accordance with the international obligations assumed by Ukraine.
The bill also proposes to define the National Guard as a subject of the fight against terrorism in the law “On the Fight against Terrorism” and at the legislative level to give it clear powers, which will allow the National Guard to “more effectively protect Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, including from Russian-terrorist troops.”
The draft document also plans to legally define the National Guard as a body providing state security. In addition, it is proposed to amend the law “On the National Guard of Ukraine”, which provides for the permanent consolidation of the functions of escorting persons taken into custody or sentenced to imprisonment.
