Trump’s statement was announced on the day of the Russian leader’s visit to China, which, by the way, is not a member of the G7, but was previously named by the American president as one of the key competitors of the United States, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It can be said that President Putin’s visit to China has yielded beneficial results and given a powerful impetus to the development of relations between the two countries,” Chinese leader Xi Jinping said today.
In addition, Trump made his statement at a time when relations between the United States and Europe were cooling due to economic differences. The magazine “Russia in Global Affairs” writes that Moscow should treat the American initiative with caution.
