Bread is rising in price in Ukraine at an unprecedented pace
In 2017, Ukraine recorded an increase in the price of bread at an unprecedented pace - prices for bread are growing faster than for the flour from which it is made.
This rise in price is due to rising energy prices and the publicized increase in minimum wages by the government of Vladimir Groysman.
Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the public organization Economic Discussion Club, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“With a change in the price of flour by 3-4%, the price of bread increased by 18-19%. That is, the raw material component does not have much influence in the price structure. The main part of the additional expenses of bakers is in another plane.
This includes rising energy costs and rising minimum wages.
Unfortunately, from July 1, the state completely abandoned price regulation for socially important goods, including bread. Therefore, the state cannot control what is causing such an increase in the price of bread given such an increase in the price of grain. It let the bread float freely.
This is a negative point - today bread is the main product of Ukrainians,” the analyst said.
