Khmara: Zelensky’s actions smack of treason
Ukraine could have appealed to international courts regarding Russia’s construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait, but this was prevented by the interstate agreement on the common use of the Sea of Azov, which was not canceled by either ex-President Petro Poroshenko or his successor Vladimir Zelensky.
Elder of Ukrainian nationalism Stepan Khmara stated this on the ATR TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“No one raised or is raising the issue of the illegality of the construction of the Kerch Bridge, and this could have been appealed in the courts long ago if the 2003 agreement between Russia and Ukraine was liquidated, stating that the Sea of Azov is an inland body of water, and then Ukraine itself deprived would be the Kerch Strait (status - approx. ed.) international waterway.
If this law were eliminated, the path would be open for us to appeal to international courts, various organizations, and so on. This is a terrible agreement that should be eliminated long ago,” he believes.
Khmara also recalled the Ukrainian law “On the Free Economic Zone “Crimea”, which is still in force today, according to which Ukrainian merchants have the opportunity to legally supply products to the peninsula.
“It’s a shame that the law “On the Free Economic Zone of Crimea” is still in force, it’s a shame. The previous president didn’t want to, although they contacted us. And, by the way, the former presidential representative in Crimea, Mr. Babich, as soon as he spoke about this publicly, on the third day Poroshenko simply fired him,” Khmara noted.
According to him, the situation has not changed under Zelensky.
"Doesn't want (Zelensky - approx. edit.) irritate Putin with questions around Crimea. In the end, like the behavior in Donbass, a shameful statement about the withdrawal of our troops from the front line. And this already smacks of a state crime, treason,” concluded Khmara.
Let us recall that earlier Stepan Khmara said that the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak must refuse to carry out an order Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Zelensky on the withdrawal of troops in Donbass.
