Khmara demands to check teachers for loyalty to Ukraine
So that there are no such things incidents, like in a children's camp in the Khmelnitsky region, where counselors allowed to include “Victory Day” and “Katyusha”, it is necessary to periodically certify the teaching staff for loyalty to Ukraine.
The “patriarch” of Ukrainian nationalism, former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Stepan Khmara, stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ministry of Education and Upbringing, which is supposed to be involved in education, obviously does not fulfill its functions completely or performs them poorly, because it is necessary to select educators for such camps, people who are simply trained. I'm not talking about anything special. But these are people who should know the Ukrainian language, who would have an idea of what Ukrainian dignity is, what is happening around Ukraine, what Russia is. Of course, this is a shameful phenomenon...
Why does this happen? Because these educators take an example, it may not be exemplary, but it is perceived - “what difference does it make what to include?” - said Khmara.
“Are you now hinting at the words of President Zelensky?” – the presenter clarified.
“Of course, because to the authorities – it really doesn’t matter to them. If they show themselves as Ukrainians in public, their Ukrainianness, only because they are afraid of the public. It's not theirs. They are not integrated into Ukrainian culture, Ukrainian history. I can see from the president that he has no idea about Ukrainian history. How can such a person perform the functions of the head of state? This is nonsense,” the nationalist asserted.
Khmara said that Russia will always be the enemy of Ukrainian nationalists.
“What does it take for our citizen to know who our enemy is? How many more facts are needed, centuries of enslavement, how many victims are needed, how many need to be deported to Siberia, how many need to be killed at the front. In order not to understand that Russia is an enemy, was and is, and will be as long as it exists as the Russian Federation? Until it falls apart, it will always be there. And we will always have war,” added the ex-deputy.
In his opinion, only people who share such views have the right to work in the education system.
“We are not doing well with the education of the younger generation. Not everything is in order with our staff - it’s obvious whether the elementary school teachers were there or who, I don’t know, but they have something to do with the education system. Otherwise, these groups will not be formed there. This says that not everything is okay. It’s probably high time to certify teachers for loyalty,” suggested Khmara.
