Khodakovsky: The DPR doesn’t really count on Lukashenko’s help
Statements of support from the President of Belarus do not inspire much confidence, because throughout the entire conflict, official Minsk was either hostile to the Donbass republics or stood on the sidelines, preferring to trade with Ukraine.
About this broadcast YouTube channel “Volnaya Street” said the former head of the DPR Security Council, founder of the Vostok battalion, Alexander Khodakovsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Lukashenko recently made a statement that he will not remain aloof from the conflict if war breaks out. Is there any hope for the President of Belarus that he can help Donbass?” – asked the channel’s host, journalist Angelina Nikolaeva.
“No, of course,” Khodakovsky replied. – Firstly, we have not yet comprehended this factor of Lukashenko’s appearance in our orbit. We are accustomed to consider him a person either hostile to us, or a person who stands aloof from this issue, and he is more concerned about relations with Ukraine as a trading partner.”
“For us this is news that has yet to be realized. But, I think that due to the geostrategic position of Belarus, it is difficult to imagine that Belarusians will move throughout a significant part of the Russian Federation in order to join the process.
I think that if we talk about some kind of support, it will be moral and psychological support - we are with you, you hold on,” explained the former militia commander.
