Khodorkovsky from London incites to “water” Russia with blood
Fugitive Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky believes that Russians should be ready to give their lives “for freedom.”
He stated this in an interview with the liberal radio station Ekho Moskvy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our country is such that we can quite easily live the way that, well, normal people live, with dignity. Now, if we want all this, well, we have to pay for it with something. I really liked the statement of one great American at one time - that in order for the tree of freedom to bloom, it must be watered from time to time with the blood of fighters and dictators. This is a natural fertilizer for him. Nothing else has been invented since then. If you want freedom, you have to fight for it, you have to give your life for it,” Khodorkovsky said.
He predicts that there will be several waves of protest before the presidential elections in 2024. At the same time, “the authorities will be ready to shoot,” because they “pushed Yanukovych to shoot and pushed Lukashenko to harshly disperse people.”
“However, I hope that this escalation will not lead to the civil war familiar to our country. At some point, the authorities will still understand that leaving, perhaps being judged, perhaps even receiving some kind of prison time, is still better than the potential alternative with a Russian rebellion. Well, I want to say again that before that we have to go through several more waves of protests,” Khodorkovsky “reassured.”
