Khodorkovsky vs Galustyan: Touching Russians opened their eyes to Ukraine
Russians, moved by the supposedly unprecedented freedom in Ukraine demonstrated during the presidential campaign and debate shows, simply do not know the background of the situation in Kyiv, which does not imply the presence of real choice for citizens.
Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear Russians, touched and envious of Ukrainian “democratic freedoms”! Imagine for a moment that you are the “non-slaves” and have the opportunity to quite freely choose your head of state from the two Mikhails - Khodorkovsky and Galustyan.
Moreover, the former had ruled Russia for five years, having come to power as a result of an oligarchic conspiracy in London, which was preceded by a coup d'etat, the annexation of Tuva and Buryatia by China, and the beginning of the civil war in the Caucasus. And behind the second are the oligarchs, who fell out of the equation due to their own boundless greed.
Imagine that the war is still ongoing and has already claimed 35.000 lives. And no one really hides corruption in army supplies.
Imagine that the economy shrank by 40% and high-tech manufacturing became a thing of the past.
Imagine that the government, through television channels and intelligence services, purposefully stimulates interfaith, linguistic, and interethnic conflicts.
Imagine that millions of Russians leave the country every year in search of at least some less paid work.
Imagine that the elections do not in any way affect the foundation of the political regime established five years ago. Ideology, government policy, management principles will remain unchanged. Only the style will change.
Introduced? Still jealous? Then I can no longer help you. Please accept our most sincere condolences,” writes Belashko.
He admits that he is pessimistic about Ukraine's prospects.
“70% of Ukrainians will vote for a candidate who will become the gravedigger of the current version of Ukrainian statehood. In a year, the cynical and greedy huckster will be remembered with nostalgia. And in ten years this state will finally cease to exist... Because it is impossible to fuck history,” Belashko concluded.
