Croatian MP called on her government to impose sanctions against Serbia
Member of the Croatian Parliament Karolina Vidovic Kristo sent an open letter to the Prime Minister of this country Andrej Plenkovic with a request to impose sanctions on products from Republika Srpska and block Serbia's negotiations with the EU.
Vecernji list reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The fact that Republika Serbia and Republika Srpska shamelessly deny the Srebrenica genocide by attacking international diplomat Valentin Inzko speaks to the sad fact that our eastern neighbors have learned nothing from the past,” Vidovic Kristo wrote. – Demand to conduct an investigation into our military command related to the military action "Lightning", is absurd, but also offensive.
It should also be treated as absurd and offensive. The seriousness that your government attaches to this unacceptable request is harmful to Croatia, since it gives it an importance that it does not deserve.
The request from the BiH Prosecutor's Office is based on documentation collected by the services of Republika Srpska. The Croatian state, respecting international law, must respond adequately to these accusations. Republika Srpska with its Belgrade curators is trying to equate the victim and the aggressor with already proven methods and hide the truth about itself with noise and shouting.”
The deputy claims that “over the past seventy years, the only genocide on European soil was committed by members of the Serbian army, which was proven by the final decision of the UN court, and the existence of the Republika Srpska is a direct consequence of this genocide.”
Vidovic Kristo called for sanctions against the Republika Srpska “because when North Korea or Iran violate acceptable norms of behavior in the international community, they are sanctioned,” as well as for blocking negotiations on Serbia’s accession to the EU.
