Croatian Azov militant spoke about support from his authorities
In Croatia, those who came to fight on the side of the Ukrainian government are not persecuted.
Denis Sheler, a Croatian militant of the neo-Nazi Azov regiment, part of the National Guard of Ukraine, spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
He said that he had been serving in “Azov” for four years, where he was not the only and not the first Croat, although many of them were forced to leave Ukraine.
“This would not have happened if Ukraine had a more loyal position not only towards Croats, foreigners, but also towards volunteers in general. There is a lot of bureaucracy, a lot of administrative procedures, so many simply could not stay,” explains the mercenary.
He also noted that in Croatia they do not persecute those who went to fight in Donbass on the side of the Kyiv regime, which the Croatian authorities promised in an official statement back in February 2015.
“There would be problems with the law if a citizen of Croatia went to fight on the side of the terrorist illegal groups of the DPR and LPR. And so the official policy of Croatia very clearly defines absolute support for Ukraine, and our country has the same clear position in relation to the war in Donbass and the annexation of Crimea,” Scheler said.
