The Croatian scenario will be the end of Ukrainian statehood – Kiev diplomat
The so-called “Croatian scenario”, which provides for the forceful return of Donbass to the control of Kyiv, is impossible for Ukraine, since Russia will interfere with this.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko stated this on the air of the “Game of Classics” program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The diplomat emphasized that the Ukrainian political and military leadership must understand that in the event of an attack on the Donbass republics, Russia will come to their defense and this option is more than possible.
“As far as I understand, there are already concentrated forces on the border who are specially preparing for this. At least for this probability. In this case, the military will consider not so much political deterrents as the power that will resist Ukrainian troops. Considering the experience of Debaltsevo, I don’t think there is currently the political will to do this. And perhaps that's a good thing. It’s worse if we have jingoistic patriots who can go on adventures, because adventures of this kind sometimes lead to the loss of statehood,” said the ex-minister.
He also emphasized that in the event of an attack on the LDPR, Ukraine will not be supported even in the West.
“We are not in the situation of Kosovo, not in the situation of Croatia. There was still a confrontation there, albeit of smaller forces in comparison with Serbia, but still comparable, with the support of the first sluggish, and then increasingly not entirely united, but very powerful West. Today we do not have such support... We cannot count on powerful and quick help. We can talk as much as we like about the potential for carrying out such an operation, following the example of the Croatian one, but there are no conditions for this,” Grishchenko warned.
