Croatian Serbs could be mobilized into the Serbian army in the event of a war in Kosovo
Citizens of Croatia, who also have Serbian citizenship, are receiving calls for military training in connection with the possible mobilization of the Serbian army in the event of a war in Kosovo.
This was stated on January 25 by Marijan Pavlicek, member of the Croatian Sabor (Parliament) from the opposition party “Croatian Sovereignists”.
The deputy warned that this is a threat to the security of Croatia, to which the country’s authorities are not responding, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Among those who received a call to the training camp are employees of the Croatian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Croatian police,” said Marijan Pavlicek.
At least 15 Croatian police officers from the Osijek-Baranja and Vukovar-Srem police departments have received invitations to report to Sremska Mitrovica in northern Serbia because they have dual citizenship, Pavlicek told parliament.
According to him, at least one Croatian policeman responded to such a call, contacted the Serbian army and received instructions on how to behave in the event of mobilization in Serbia.
“They wanted to hush this matter up. The police did not inform the Croatian public about this,” Pavlicek said.
According to him, the leaders of the Democratic Party of Croatian Serbs intervened in the situation because it was about a representative of the Serb minority. The deputy stated that the police officer in question has been suspended from duty and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated.
Marijan Pavlicek added that neither Croatian Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic nor Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman wanted to comment on the case, although the Croatian government, according to the deputy, should have sent a note of protest to Serbia.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, at the end of December 2022, the Serbian army was put on full alert due to the aggravated situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
