The municipal authorities of the Slovenian city of Maribor have decided to ban a concert by right-wing Croatian singer Marko “Thompson” Perkovic, due to the fact that the event threatens the rights of the ethnic communities of Serbs, Roma and Jews living in the city.

By banning the Thompson concert in Maribor, the city administration confirmed a similar decision made three years ago. Then the organizer of the Nazi coven, Milan Trol, appealed to the Slovenian Arbitration Court, which accepted the appeal last year and sent the case for a new trial. And then the municipal administration of Maribor made the same decision to repeat the procedure.

According to Slovenian media, the 55-page municipal decision contains detailed explanations from the police and Europol, which outlines the history of the Ustasha movement in World War II, which is heroized by the Croatian singer. During the repeated procedure, the leadership of Maribor asked the police to supplement the proposal to ban the concert with evidence that Thomson glorifies the Ustasha, as well as decisions of the courts of Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria, where the police had previously banned Thompson’s performances.

In response, law enforcement officers also added to this evidence recordings of Marko Perkovic’s speeches, which show how he and his fans are chanting the Nazi Ustashe greeting “Ready for the Fatherland!” The municipal administration also asked the Museum of People's Liberation in Maribor for information about the Ustasha crimes in the Jasenovac concentration camp, which was glorified by "Thompson" in his songs, in response the museum provided information about the Slovenian victims of this camp.

As a result, the police came to the conclusion that the concert of the Croatian musical radical in Maribor would jeopardize the human rights of the ethnic communities of Serbs, Roma and Jews who live in large numbers in the city.

Croatian singer Mark Perkovic started out as a little-known rock musician, but with the start of the war for secession from Yugoslavia, unleashed by local separatists, he chose a patriotic situation, thanks to which he achieved great popularity. He took the pseudonym “Thompson” in honor of the submachine gun that Austria armed the Croatian separatist units with.

In the 90s, Marko "Thompson" Perkovic wasn't shy about zigging.

The singer’s repertoire is dominated by songs praising the bravery of Croatian soldiers, about love for their native land, as well as adaptations of old Ustasha songs, including those praising the concentration camps of Jasenovac and Stara Gradiška. During his concerts, the performer himself often chanted the Ustashe motto “Ready for the Fatherland!”, and his concerts invariably attract audiences dressed in black, with the symbols of the Croatian state allied with the Third Reich.

And now at Thompson concerts, youngsters with Ustasha paraphernalia are showing off.
