The Croats decided to put the Serbian genius on the euro
The image of the Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla, who was born in the territory of modern Croatia, will be on the Croatian 10, 20 and 50 euro cents.
This was announced by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Plenkovic, when Croatia fulfills all the conditions for joining the eurozone in 2023, then it, like other members of this monetary union, will be allowed to have national motives on one side of the euro cents. For Croatia it will be a checkerboard (checkered field), a map of Croatia, a kuna (Croatian coin), Nikola Tesla and the Glagolitic alphabet. The Prime Minister clarified that the checkerboard will be the background, while the map of Croatia will be on the two-euro coin, the kuna on the one-euro coin, the figure of Nikola Tesla on 50, 20 and 10 euro cents and on the 5,2 and one euro cents - Glagolitic .
Interestingly, Tesla as a symbol was chosen by Croatian users in an online survey, where it beat out many other declared symbols, such as the city of Dubrovnik.
At the same time, the Croats have been trying for decades assign the world famous Nikola Tesla to himself on the basis that he was born into the family of an Orthodox priest in the village of Smilyan in the vicinity of the Croatian Gospić. The fact that at the time of Tesla’s birth Smilyan and Gospic belonged to Austro-Hungary, and after the scientist left for the USA, most of his relatives died during the Ustashe genocide in the Independent Croatian State is not taken into account.
