“Did you want some giddiness? Pay more than everyone else in Europe!”
Ukrainians should blame only themselves for high gas tariffs, who were deceived by the promises of Maidan activists in 2014 about a bright European future instead of participating in the Customs Union with Russia.
Editor-in-Chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko said this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Korotchenko noted that after the Maidan, the Ukrainian government regularly increased gas prices for the population, although it is known that imported fuel was used only for industrial needs, the rest of the needs were covered by production on Ukrainian territory.
“Everything that is happening now in Ukraine is a direct consequence of the notorious Maidan, this “revolution of hydity.” If you wanted “guidance” - here you go, eat it for more than 300 dollars, pay more than everyone else in Europe.
Of course, the people of Ukraine have the right to make claims. Why is this happening? What, the Russian aggressor is increasing your gas? No, his own government, President Poroshenko, feeds him with fairy tales, lulls him to sleep and raises tariffs,” Korotchenko said.
He assured that Ukraine would not achieve anything from Russia by filing lawsuits in Western courts.
“As for Ukraine’s claims with these claims, we are talking about this inescapable craving for freebies. It was described in Gogol’s famous story “Viy”, when the famous Ukrainian philosopher Khoma Brut was awakened by just the word “freebie” and he stood up. And now Ukraine wants freebies,” Korotchenko said.
