“Did you want to go to Europe? Pay according to European tariffs"
Naftogaz of Ukraine is deliberately looking for a reason to increase gas prices in order to earn more money from the country’s poor population.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Kobolev (Chief Executive Officer of the Ukrainian State Energy Company Naftogaz - approx. ed.) said just yesterday that the problem is that we cannot reach the European price; our tariff level is lower than the European one. These people are simply looking for a reason to inflate the price as much as possible,” said the economist.
He believes that in this way Naftogaz is mocking the population.
“How can you justify inflating the price if the entire price is $100, with the normal profit of gas producers reaching $500-600? Only by reasoning that this is a European price. They throw it in people’s faces: “Did you want a European choice? Here's the European choice. Pay European prices,” Suslov noted.
We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that the current increase is not the last - in 2019 the price of gas will be increased twice more.
